The Trust was established so Missouri conservationists could donate tax-deductible gifts and memorials to promote conservation and inform the citizenry of important conservation and environmental developments and needs.
One early goal was to establish a conservation education center and library. The Trust’s donations support scientific, literary, and educational purposes.
Since the passage of the 1/8th % Conservation Sales tax, initiated and championed by the Federation, the Department of Conservation has been able to construct conservation education centers such as the
Runge Nature Center in Jefferson City and others around the state. This tax has been a significant milestone in the Trust's history, enabling the establishment of key conservation facilities.
